I joined an annual “Lanna Culture Festival”

They started to establish a stage and makeshift tents in front of the Tape Gate, and there seemed to be a great event as the Thai police also strengthened the patrol.

I asked Tao and Am, but they didn’t know about that. They seemed didn’t care about social issues even though this activity was just a block away from where they live.

So I decided to go, I would never miss something like this. Join in the fun.

The food stalls here are all food from North Tai, simple but delicious. Fried rice cake, Fried vegetables, beans with sauce…

Local curry didn’t look good, so I didn’t try. Other tourists were also not interested in curry, preferred barbecue. Yes, there was a family that sold barbecue chicken, pork. Pork was 10 baht per string, surprisingly cheap, smelling good and good taste. I bought it twice and forgot to take pictures because it was so delicious… I just wanted to satisfy myself with hot meat kebabs hahaha…

Another local food made by fish meat and pork, but very light taste. Maybe they wanted to make sure the meat’s authentic without flavoured. But as it turned out, this one didn’t taste good.

If something had to be highly recommend, it’s doughnut, crisp outside and soft inside, made by purple sweet potato and glutinous rice flour. 6 for 20 baht, and the women would pour brown sugar sauce.

Coconut pancake, it’s a pity to miss it. I was full, too full hahaha… but I noticed that some guys bought double, so it shouldn’t be disappointed.

Another day before I went back for work, I bought a piece of soybean pancake. It’s fried with fresh yellow color and sweet spicy sauce. Amazing taste, I also invited Am to try, she seemed never try it before. They are Thai but they never recommended me the locals.

Can you feel the crowded on-site atmosphere? It’s a three-day event during which they had a specific schedule. The first night was a big performance show, with the hosts explaining in Thai, English and Chinese. Chinese, but the thing is that I didn’t understand what’s she saying. Maybe half, really hard to understand all.
